Procedures & Services
Desert Endoscopy Center is committed to providing the highest quality colonoscopy and endoscopy services, with your comfort and safety as our highest priority.
Services We Offer
Colonoscopy – Colonoscopy is recommended for all adults at age 50 (with average risk) for routine colon cancer screening, whereby a careful examination is performed to discover and remove polyps. This procedure, which is performed under conscious sedation, has many indications including unexplained diarrhea, rectal bleeding, a family history of colon cancer and constipation.
Upper GI Endoscopy – Upper endoscopy is a visual examination of the upper intestinal tract using a lighted, flexible, fiber-optic endoscope. The upper gastrointestinal tract begins with the mouth and continues with the esophagus (food pipe) which carries food to the stomach.
Sigmoidoscopy – Sigmoidoscopy is used as a preventative screening measure against colon cancer and is one of the recommended testing methods for colorectal cancer in patients 50 and over. The procedure is also used to diagnose and treat conditions including abdominal pain, persistent diarrhea, rectal bleeding or blood in the stool.
Small Bowel Enteroscopy – This is a test performed to evaluate gastrointestinal bleeding, small bowel tumors, polyps, or other small bowel diseases. During the procedure, the physician uses a thin, flexible tube called an endoscope to examine the lining of your esophagus, stomach, duodenum (first portion of the small bowel) and jejunum (the middle portion of the small bowel). A small bowel enteroscopy may also be used to treat various conditions of the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract, such as abnormal growths or bleeding.
Open Access Colonoscopy – If you are in good health and wish to easily schedule a colonoscopy, usually without a pre-procedure visit, Desert Endoscopy Center now offers Open Access Colonoscopy. Patients with significant illnesses (poorly controlled diabetes, significant cardiac disease, severe breathing problems, kidney problems) are advised to schedule a consultation prior to the procedure.
